In literature, I think the line is drawn foremost by the author when presenting questionable elements in their literature. The author is the one who determines how questionable elements will be used in a story and the quantity of those elements necessary. Authors are also held accountable to society's standards, and risk the acceptance of their book to some extent if they cross the boundaries set up by society. However, society's standards are constantly declining and more and more questionable elements are being deemed acceptable.
Because of the constantly declining standards of today's society, Christians need to view objectionable elements in literature through a biblical worldview and draw their own lines when faced with these types of situations. This being said, I've also personally needed to set boundaries for myself. Boundaries also need to be extended to all forms of media. Whether it's literature, music, television, or movies, I need to be weary of what is let into my eyes and ears because those things will be what dwells and grows in my heart and mind.
